Inspecting Optical Connectors Just Went Mobile

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RENTON, Wash., September 23, 2014 — Lightel® announced today the introduction of its DI-1000-WIFI, a wireless extension of the popular DI-1000 family of digital microscope probes.

Connecting the new WiFi unit with a DI-1000 probe converts the probe’s USB video output into a wireless signal, enabling users to view live images of fiber endfaces on their smartphone, tablet, or PC. This basic feature goes a long way toward simplifying the process of inspecting optical connectors, not the least of which is freeing up an operator’s hands to get work done, not juggle expensive equipment.

“Data centers, central offices and outside plant installations tend to be complex environments. Our customers are thrilled to have a new wireless option that help will streamline things for their people,” said Ted Bartunek, Product Manager for the Test and Inspection division.

The DI-1000-WIFI is the latest example of Lightel’s commitment to developing products that offer improved features and capabilities for both new customers and those who already own Lightel equipment.
