FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RENTON, Wash., December 12, 2017 — Lightel® Offers “Tuned” Connectorization on Passive Components
Lightel now offers all of its passive components with the option of tuned fiber optic LC or SC connectors. Connector apex mismatch is a major contribution to insertion loss (IL) and return loss (RL). By tuning all of the connector apexes to a fixed area, Lightel is able to reduce the insertion loss significantly. For example, Grade A connectors have IL ≤0.15 dB (average <0.08 dB) while Grade B connectors have IL ≤0.25 dB (average <0.12dB). Using these tuned connectors with Lightel’s high performance optical components minimizes system link budget loss.
